The Republic leg of the WRO 2017 came to an end which once again brought together young people from all over Kazakhstan to develop their creativity, design and problem solving skills through challenging and educational robot competitions and activities.

Within the framework of the EXPO-2017 international exhibition there were national competitions being held in robotics under the aegis of the World Robot Olympiad. More than 300 students from different regions of Kazakhstan have taken part in the championship. Among the winners, a national team will be formed, which will receive a chance to move on to the WRO-2017 International Olympic Games in Costa Rica.

Three teams of the International School of Astana also participated in the event. They are: Genesis, Roborex, and World Changers. As a result, contestants from the Roborex, Dayan Mektepbayev, a Grade 6 student, and Akhmed Kabdolla, a Grade 4 student, should be rewarded for good participation. The Genesis comprising Enes Sissenbi and Iztleubek Sanabayev, students in Grade 6, successfully went through to the semi-final. As for the World Changers, Dinmukhammed Myrzageldi, a Grade 6 A student, and Ayan Omar, a Grade 7 B student, gained third place in the Open Category which is a project based competition where students create their own intelligent robotics solutions relating to the current theme, namely Robotics for Sustainable Development.
