The good news came to Nur-Sultan from the Netherlands from the CIS headquarters that the Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools of the cities of Petropavlovsk and Kostanay received accreditation from the Council of International Schools (Council of International Schools). These two schools have completed the accreditation process, and to date, all twenty Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools have confirmed high educational standards with CIS recognition.

The Council of International Schools (CIS) is the world’s most renowned organization dedicated to promoting the highest standards and the latest advances in education. Currently, the prestigious club consists of flagship schools and educational complexes from many countries. CIS cooperates with 50 best universities in the world that are interested in graduates from accredited schools.

Independent CIS experts worked in each Nazarbayev Intellectual School, who, during team visits, conducted a large-scale analysis in seven main areas: “Mission, vision and values of the school”, “Teaching and learning”, “Management and leadership”, “Personnel”, “Accessibility education”, “School culture”, “Resource support”.

The largest number of experts in Kazakh innovation came from the USA, Australia, England, Germany, and Russia. All of them highly appreciated the professional development of teachers, the introduction of the best world practices into the educational process, the success of social projects, as well as cooperation with parents and a friendly atmosphere in schools.

Independent experts especially emphasized the importance of the language policy in the Intellectual Schools. Ed.Maher, Head of CIS School Preparation and Evaluation Department, admitted after a visit to Pavlodar that the innovative NIS educational program aims to make students become world leaders in trilingualism.

– We are impressed that the school has excellent conditions for teaching in three languages. The policy of multilingualism and support for multicultural development are clearly seen in the Strategy of the Intellectual Schools, where future leaders of the country are trained and educated, – James Shvets, chairman of the team of experts, stated after a visit to Kokshetau.

– I am delighted with responsive and open students who are ready to help anyone at any time. We highly appreciated the level of organization of the educational process and the equipment of classrooms, – emphasized the chairman of the commission, Patricia Mertin, following the visit to the Taraz school.

Today CIS Executive Director Jane Larsson admits:

– During our first meeting with representatives of Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools in 2014, we had a lot of questions regarding this project, and how they would be able to complete the accreditation process in such a short time, since CIS had no such experience before. Now, looking back, we are proud to announce that the Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools project is one of our most successful projects in the field of international education, and they have achieved their goal: 20 Intellectual Schools received international CIS accreditation!

The new status of the Intellectual Schools means new prospects for the entire teaching staff and students. The entry of the Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools system into an elite world-class educational organization has become a landmark event for the entire national education.
