Again, we cannot take no notice of the latest news on the most prestigious Mathematical Olympiad of our country, “Bastau”, which was held on 19-23 June at the Republican Specialized Physics and Mathematics Secondary Boarding School, in Almaty. Six students of our school constituting two separate teams, i.e. Russian and Kazakh, participated in the competition, and all of them achieved brilliant results.
Among 141 students from all over Kazakhstan, they demonstrated fabulous mathematical skills and knowledge. Overall, one of our teams occupied third place competing against 46 regional teams. Alikhan Zhetpis won the top prize, Grand-Prix, Yersaiyn Zharasbayev gained first place, and Artur Terekhov finished in second place individually. Tamerlan Iskakov, Aidyn Kuanysh, and Ansar Kurmanaliyev were awarded Diplomas. They all have managed to show that Grade 2, Grade 3, and Grade 4 students representing the International School of Astana are embracing the best from the study programme which has been enough to complete the 10th Olympiad within the top three placings. This is a monumental achievement given the numbers of participants involved. The school is very proud of them and pleased to congratulate and thank primary school teachers, math teachers, namely Mr Abzal Kashkynbayev, and Mr Syndar Satbayev for preparing the kids. Well done to our winners!
