Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools in China received the 2019 UNESCO Wenhui Award! This is a landmark event not only for the large and professional staff of the Intellectual Schools, but also for the entire national education system. NIS became the first representative of Kazakhstan to be awarded the UNESCO Prize in Education.

Diploma and certificate for 20 thousand dollars for the development of the nominated project were presented to the Chairman of the Board of the Autonomous Organization of Education “Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools” Kulyash Shamshidinova.

The Wenhui Award aims to promote partnerships between universities and schools in advancing the Education 2030 agenda. Among the nominees of the final stage of 2019 were the best universities in Australia, China, Malaysia and Sri Lanka.

The UNESCO Prize is awarded to innovative Kazakh schools for successful partnerships between universities and schools that promote quality education and lifelong learning – in preparing children and youth for life, work and global citizenship.

The news about the prestigious award was announced at the XI international scientific and practical conference “Teachers who change the world of school” of the autonomous organization of education “Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools” in October. In her congratulatory letter, Director of the UNESCO Cluster Office in Almaty Krista Pikkat emphasized.

– On behalf of the UNESCO Cluster Office for Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, I testify my respect for the Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools AEO. AEO “NIS” is recognized as one of the best educational institutions in the field of cooperation between universities and schools.

Among the first to congratulate NIS on the new success was the University of Cambridge, which has been a strategic partner of Kazakhstani innovative schools since 2011. The Cambridg University Faculty of Education website published the information “School of the Faculty of Partnership receives the Educational Innovation Award”:

– NIS won in a serious competition and received an award for creating a “Partnership between schools and students”. The NIS-programme and the NIS Grade 12 Certificate are recognized by a number of international organizations: the UK National Information Recognition Center for Educational Certificates (UK NARIC), the Dutch Organization for Internationalization in Education (NUFFIC), the Council of the Central Office for Education Abroad of the Standing Conference Ministers of Education and Culture of Germany and Swiss Education Group, provider of higher education in the field of hospitality and hotel management in Switzerland.

The educational program NIS-Programme and the Certificate were recognized by such foreign universities as Cambridge University, Bournemouth University, Glasgow Caledonian University, Hong Kong City University, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Busan National University, Yonsei University (South Korea), Monash University (Australia), which accept NIS graduates to undergraduate programs, bypassing pre-university training.
