Within the unit «Generations» on English language subject in grades 8, the week «Movie Time: The Ron Clark story» was held.

Students studied different periods of human life, from infancy to the age of centenarians; what changes are taking place, pros and cons. Discussed the relationship of students with parents, teachers, friends, society as a whole; what disagreements, misunderstandings arise and what causes them. The students suggested solutions on how to reach a compromise.

To better understand this topic and the importance of positive relationships in everyone’s life, the students and their teacher watched the movie «The Ron Clark Story» based on a true story.

After watching the movie, the students worked in groups. Based on the questions given to them about the film, they made a poster presentation, where they presented their vision of the social, psychological problems of adolescents and their families shown in the film; their influence on the formation of the character and personality of adolescents, their academic achievements.

This work contributes to the development of students’ public speaking skills, teamwork, the ability to be responsible for the work of each team member to obtain an overall positive result; affective skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to make inferences and draw conclusions. It also teaches how to structure the speech of the presentation, dividing it into an introductory part, the main part and a conclusion; prepares students for the Final Summative Assessment.

Based on the results of the work, the teams assessed and gave feedback to each other, noting the positive aspects and giving recommendations for improving work in the future. In conclusion, all teams received meaningful feedback from the teacher.
