Learning and development

Kindergarten with the program according the IB (International Baccalaureate) standards

The Primary Years Program of the International Baccalaureate includes an initial step of the learning process through inquiry in collaboration between students and with the teachers. It is a model developed by the best teachers of various international schools around the world. According to the program kids extend their knowledge, develop ATL skills, the Learner Profile attributes and accomplish meaningful Actions for problem solving.

The initial stage of the program — inquiry structured studies of children as an ideal source of understanding of the learnt material.  Key questions determined inquiry activities of kids and teachers to work collaboratively regardless of their origin, place of residence or education.

Inquiry is the cornerstone of creative thinking and the key to solve problems. The older groups, 5-6 years old, will explore six units, and the 3-5 years old kids will study four units over the year.  Current units discover the following transdisciplinary themes:

  • Who we are
  • How we express ourselves
  • Where we are in place and time
  • How the world works
  • How we organize ourselves
  • Sharing the planet

According to these themes children get knowledge of history, geography, natural science, literature, art, math, and language.

The aim of the teacher is to provide the environment that promotes responsible learning and the development of friendship.

The role of the parent is very important. Parents can support their child by participating in different events in the kindergarten and by asking about news and interesting things, that thechild has learnt during the day.
